Welcome to Semester 1
CIED 441 Teaching and Learning Mathematics at the Elementary Level
Below is the math game I created to play with students at Ellis Elementary
CIED 302 Field Experience I
Here are links to my consensus forms from both placement 1 and 2. This shows my cooperating teacher's feedback.
Placement #1: 4th grade
Placement #2: 5th grade
Below are a couple of examples of the activity I did for my read aloud at my first placement. I read the book “The Way I Feel” written and illustrated by Janan Cain. I reminded the 4th grade students that they discussed either MLK, Clara Barton, or Cesar Chavez in their Social Studies and to keep that person that has a good heart in your mind while I read this book. Then one each finger write “I am______” –students will have to brainstorm how their person with a good heart felt or which emotions best fit their specific person.
Below is a classroom takeaway from my second placement in 5th grade. Incorporating them promotes a quieter learning environment and teaches students an additional form of communication.
CIED 428 Creativity and Problem Solving
In my Creativity and Problem Solving class, we learned a lot about worthwhile tasks based on the type of learning you want them to do. We learned about things such as placed-based learning, problem-based learning, and visual thinking strategies. For us to truly learn this experience we recycled a heating fan and put it to good use! My group took apart a heater and made it into a classroom decoration, based on the book "The Blue Boat" by Kersten Hamilton.
